Print the night sky
of the moment that mattered.
Pick any place on Earth, any date, any hour. OrbitStudio Sky rebuilds that exact sky — the naked-eye stars, the planets and the Moon where they stood — and turns it into a 3D-printable star map your printer actually likes: flat, no supports.

Everything you need to
print a real night sky
From live sky computation to a print-ready multicolor export, OrbitStudio Sky handles every step of the workflow.
Magnitude-true stars
Brighter stars print taller and wider, so the finished chart reads the way the night actually looked.
Drawn from all 88 constellations
Raised constellation lines beneath the stars — printed in their own color, subtle by design.
Planets & the Moon
Computed for your exact hour and only included if they were really above the horizon.
Embossed lettering
A title, a message, the place and the date, with the coordinates if you want them — each at its own size, raised on the plate.
Multicolor 3MF export
The multicolor 3MF arrives with every part already colored, so mapping filaments is picking from a list.
Any place, any date
Search a city or type exact coordinates. Past or future — the sky is computed live, not looked up. Before about 1970 the world's clocks were a local matter, so a time zone that old is our best reading rather than a record.
From a moment to
a physical print
Pin the moment
Search a city or type coordinates. Pick the date and the hour, and add the words you want raised on the plate — a name, a line, a date.
We compute the real sky
Star catalog plus ephemerides, projected on your local horizon. All 88 constellations, the planets and the Moon, but only if they were actually up.
Slice and print
Export an STL or a multicolor 3MF — flat on the bed, no supports.
The nights people
actually print
Births, proposals, weddings, first homes, anniversaries, memorials: the sky over the night that mattered, printed as a star map to give as a gift or to keep.
Making one as a gift? There is a guide for the night you met, for a wedding and for a birth, and one on choosing the night, the words and the finish.
Made to be printed,
not just admired
This isn't a poster generator with a 3D button. The chart is engineered for the printer from the first layer. The defaults in the studio are the settings we print with ourselves.
- Every part pre-colored — each part of the 3MF arrives with its color, so mapping filaments is picking from a list.
- Flat on the bed, no supports — nothing to cut away, nothing to sand.
- Multicolor 3MF, color-mapped — stars, constellation lines and each planet carry their own color in the file.
- Magnitude-scaled relief — dim stars at 0.4 mm, bright stars up to 1 mm.
First we printed the Moon.
Now, the whole night sky.
OrbitStudio Terrain turns real NASA elevation data of the Moon and Mars into printable puzzles and ornaments. Sky is its other half — same account, same pass, same promise: real data, no CAD, no mesh repair.
Start with Tycho, Copernicus, the Apollo 11 landing site or Tsiolkovskiy on the farside.

"OrbitStudio put the Moon on your desk. Now it puts your own night sky next to it — same bench, same rule: it has to print right the first time I try it."
OrbitStudio Sky is built by SimplySolid3D, an independent 3D-printing studio from the Netherlands. One maker, designing models that just work.
Before you print
a star map
How do I 3D print a star map of a specific date and place?
Open the studio, search a city or type exact coordinates, and set the date and the hour. OrbitStudio Sky computes the sky over that spot at that moment and builds it as a flat plate, each star raised by its brightness. Download the STL or the multicolor 3MF and print it flat on the bed of any FDM printer, with no supports.
Is the STL really free?
Yes. Making a chart and downloading its STL needs no account and no credit. The multicolor 3MF, its colors already assigned, uses one credit from a pass; that credit also covers the chart's desk stand, and downloading the same chart again is free.
Where does the star data come from?
The stars are the Bright Star Catalogue, 5th revised edition, via NASA HEASARC, down to magnitude 6, about the faintest a naked eye can see. The constellation figures are the IAU's and Sky & Telescope's, for all 88 constellations. The Moon and the five naked-eye planets, Mercury through Saturn, are computed for your exact moment and appear only if they were above the horizon.
Which places and dates work?
Any place on Earth, north or south of the equator, and any date and time from 1900 to 2100. Before about 1970 the time-zone records are patchy, so the offset used for an old date can be up to an hour out.
What shapes can the plate be?
A rounded rectangle, a rectangle, a circle or a hexagon, with an optional desk stand. The words are yours as well: a title, a message, the place name and the date, with the coordinates if you want them.
Can I keep my charts?
Yes, with a free account: the charts you save go into your library, next to your Moon and Mars models. A free library holds three; a pass holds more.
